Brief description of your Navy job: Leading petty officer of an 18-member unit, directly mentoring four junior personnel and assisting the executive officer and training officer with administrative and training requirements.
Brief description of your civilian job: I am the limited duty (LIMDU)/legal coordinator for Naval Base Ventura County. I process all LIMDU paperwork, draft and send weekly and monthly LIMDU messages and maintain records for more than 100 LIMDU personnel. I also submit pregnancy availabilities to Navy Personnel Command, and process non-judicial punishments, and assist in processing pay for service members who are on temporary duty status while in training.
What has been your greatest Navy achievement? Persevering, despite the odds. Having been forced to leave active duty due to high year tenure, I joined the Navy Reserve, took the 1st class petty officer exam, and advanced. Since I’ve been in the Reserve, I have been selected twice as Reserve Sailor of the quarter and was nominated for Reserve Sailor of the year.
Who has been your biggest influence since joining the Navy? My biggest influence through the years has been all the people that I’ve been stationed with. They have all inspired me in one way or another to get where I am at today.
What do you enjoy most about the Navy? When I was on active duty, I really enjoyed traveling around the world and experiencing different cultures.
Most interesting place visited since joining the Navy: I enjoyed visiting Italy, Spain and Greece. The people and the cultures were fascinating.
Current hobbies: Reading, interior decorating, cooking, wine tasting and traveling.
