2021 Navy Employer Recognition Event (NERE)

This year’s Navy Employer Recognition Event (NERE) will be held August 20, 2021, as a limited in-person event in San Diego, CA, with a virtual component. The recognition ceremony will be available for viewing at 8:00 AM Pacific / 11:00 AM Eastern at https://www.facebook.com/U.S.NavyReserve.
Civilian employer support for our Navy Reserve is vital to the success of our nation, particularly as we battle the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, short-notice mobilizations affected thousands of Reserve Sailors, as well as their families, employers, and communities. Restrictions on public gatherings resulted in the cancellation of last year’s NERE planned in Norfolk, VA. The Navy Reserve is proud to bring NERE back for 2021.

“We honor and recognize the many employers who support our Citizen Sailors, who are often called upon to leave their families and civilian jobs on short notice,” said Vice Adm. John B. Mustin, Chief of Navy Reserve and Commander, Navy Reserve Force. “In this unprecedented time, however, rather than hosting a national cross-section of all employers, we are instead focusing this recognition on employers of our medical and Surge Maintenance forces, many of whom left their jobs within 48 hours to answer the nation’s call.”

Nominations for NERE 2022 will be open this winter. Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) also accepts nominations for the Patriot Award employer recognition at any time. Visit https://www.esgr.mil/Employer-Awards/Patriot-Award/Form for details.

NERE recognizes civilian employers who provide outstanding support to Reserve Sailors in their organizations. It is an all-day event including tours of Navy ships, aircraft and facilities. Transportation and lunch are provided for guests. NERE concludes with a dinner reception with the Chief of Navy Reserve and Commander, Navy Reserve Forces Command, as well as other flag officers. For Navy Reserve Sailors, if your employer has provided you outstanding support to serve in our great Navy, consider nominating your leadership to attend NERE.
