Schedule Your COVID Vaccine Appointment with DHA Appointing Portal

By TRICARE Communications

When it’s your turn to get the COVID-19 vaccine, you may be able to book an appointment at a military hospital, clinic, or vaccination site with the new Defense Health Agency Appointing Portal (DAP). Read more about this convenient new vaccine scheduling tool from the Defense Health Agency (DHA).

What’s DAP?
“DAP is a simple online tool to help you schedule the time and date for your COVID-19 vaccine appointment at your closest military hospital or clinic,” said Lt. Col. Regina Tow, project manager, DHA COVID-19 Vaccine Information Technology Planning. “It’s accessible from outside the Department of Defense network on any computer, tablet, or smartphone.”

There are other portals like TRICARE Online (TOL) or MHS GENESIS, being used to schedule vaccine appointments. The difference with DAP is that you don’t need an account, a Common Access Card, or to be enrolled at a military hospital or clinic to book an appointment. DAP is also only for booking COVID-19 vaccine appointments and isn’t connected to your medical record.

How does DAP work?
Military hospitals and clinics will provide COVID-19 vaccination information on their individual DAP sites. This includes which beneficiaries are currently eligible to receive a vaccination at the location.

The only information you need to provide is:
  • Name
  • DoD ID number
  • Birthday
  • Phone number
  • First or second dose requirement
  • First dose manufacturer (if second dose appointment)

You’ll get an appointment confirmation after booking. If you need to, you can also use DAP to cancel or reschedule your COVID-19 vaccination appointment.

“Not all military hospitals or clinics are using DAP,” said Tow. “Some may use other portals for vaccination scheduling. Check with your military hospital or clinic to find out how to book your appointment.”
