Master Chief Petty Officer (IW/SW) Joshua Mangum, Command Master Chief, Naval Information Force Reserve

 

Joshua Mangum reported to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, in November 1996 and began his career as an Intelligence Specialist.  He completed Intelligence Specialist “A” School and then Imagery Intelligence training at the Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center that same year.  Follow on orders were to the USS BATAAN (LHD 5) stationed out of Norfolk, Virginia where he served almost four years of sea duty completing the ship’s FOC certification, his Surface Warfare qualification, and the USS BATAAN’s Maiden Voyage in 1999.
 
Master Chief Mangum has served in a myriad of duty assignments, including Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), Operations in Iraq (2006-2007) and a 2017 deployment in support of the ISIS fight as the J2 Ops Sergeant Major on the command staff in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.  With positions as Operations Leading Chief Petty Officer, Leading Chief Petty Officer, Regional Career Counselor, Regional Manpower, J2 OPS Sergeant Major, Senior Enlisted Leader for Naval Information Force Reserve (NIFR) Region Mid-Atlantic where he obtained his Information Warfare qualification, Senior Enlisted Advisor for Naval Special Warfare Eighteen IWC, CMDCM for Navy Cargo Handling Battalion Eleven, Jacksonville, FL and is currently serving as CMDCM for Commander, Naval Information Force Reserve.  In his civilian capacity, Master Chief Mangum works as a the lead Cyber Security Engineer for United States Marine Corps Base Modernizations, is a Department of Navy Civilian at the Navy Information Warfare Command Pacific and currently resides in Holland, Pennsylvania.
 
Master Chief Mangum is a graduate of the Command Master Chief Course, U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (U.S. Naval War College) and Senior Enlisted Legal Course.  He earned a Bachelors degree in IT, as well as the CISSP, SEC+, Linux, Novell Datacenter, and other cyber certifications. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medals, Joint Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medals, as well as various unit and campaign awards.
 
He assumed the duties as the second Command Master Chief for Naval Information Force Reserve on June 25th, 2022.​
