Master Chief Petty Officer (IW/EXW) Kristie A. Barbier, Command Master Chief, Naval Information Force Reserve

Command Master Chief Kristie Barbier is graduate from San Diego State University earning her Bachelors of Science, Business Administration in Marketing and a graduate from Pensacola Junior College earning her Associate of Art degree in Pre-Law. She certified in the Defense Acquisition University programs for Program Management Acquisition Level III and Information Technology Level II, DoD 8570 IAM Level 1 Certified and IAP Level II certification, and COMPTIA Security certified.

Command Master Chief, Kristie Barbier reported to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois in January 1996 and began her career as an airman. She became a Cryptologic Technician Technical in 1998, and selected for the Command Master Chief Program in 2017. She cross-rated to Cryptologic Technical Technician (CTT) and attended Class "A" in Pensacola, Florida. Her duty stations as a CTT were Electronic Warfare Operations Facility-Pacific at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii and Fleet Information Warfare Center, San Diego, CA. She joined the Navy Reserves in 2001. Her Navy Reserve duty stations were Navy Reserve Security Group San Diego, CA; Navy Information Operations Command San Diego, CA; Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Iraq; Navy Reserve Naval Information Operations Command Texas, Region Senior Enlisted Operations Leader; Naval Information Force Reserve Cryptologic Technical Technician (CTT) Rating Advisor; and Naval Information Force Reserve Region Midwest Senior Enlisted Leader. Her previous command as Command Master was Navy Cargo Handling Battalion Ten in Yorktown, VA.

Barbier’s civilian employment began with Siemens Mobile Phone in the Marketing, Communications, Sponsorships and Events department. She worked at a news radio station as the marketing coordinator and Booz Allen Hamilton supporting SPAWAR (now NAVWAR) Program Executive Office Program Management Warfare for Computer Network Defense. As a NAVWAR Fleet Readiness Directorate federal employee, she served as the Installation Manager for surface, new construction, and submarine platforms. She rejoined the Computer Network Defense team at Navy Information Warfare Command Atlantic as the Computer Network Defense Technical Sustainment Support Service Delivery Manager. Currently, she is the Competency Supervisor for the PEO PMW Command and Control Battlespace Awareness.

Barbier’s civilian awards consist of the Department of the Navy, IM/IT Excellence Award for Task Force Nimble Matrix Host Based Security System SIPRNet Acceleration 2012, On-the-SPOT awards, Making a Difference award, Peer awards, and multiple SPAWAR Lightning Bolt awards for her work on African Partnership efforts, Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services and Computer Network Defense Programs.

Barbier is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 200/Purple) and CMC/COB Course (May 2017). Her military decorations consist of Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (two gold stars), Navy and Marine Corps Medal (two gold stars), Global War on Terrorism Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Reserve Meritorious Service Medal (four bronze stars), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (two bronze stars), Good Conduct (three bronze stars), Marksmanship Rifle (ribbon), and Expert Pistol Medal.

She assumed the duties as the first Command Master Chief for Naval Information Force Reserve on August 01, 2019.
